Not all leather is the same - what really matters when buying a saddle
In our range, you will find a large selection of leather types - from classically elegant smooth leather and suede with a good grip to soft, open-pored aniline or robust waxed leather. However, each leather has its own characteristics that can be decisive for your riding position and feeling of safety.
What makes the difference?
Grip & hold:
Leather with a rough or waxed surface, such as suede or waxed leather, offers significantly more grip - ideal for riders who want more hold on the horse, for example with young horses or in uncertain moments.
Firmness & stability:
Firmer leather supports the leg more strongly and provides a stable feeling in the saddle. Softer leather, on the other hand, adapts quickly and provides a comfortable fit, but offers less support.
Care & durability:
Some types of leather are particularly easy to care for and insensitive to moisture, others - such as sensitive aniline leather - require more attention and should be protected from moisture.
Choosing a particular leather is therefore not just a question of style, but also of function. It should suit your riding style, your safety requirements and your care requirements.
